Three words..........Delicate - Beautiful - Moving

Personally I like by poetry with a bit more of a bite,  You know, one that punches you in your face while screaming look at me!  But this was never going to be like that.  You can tell that from the cover.

That being said... This book is beautiful.  I loved the fact that it had the original french next to the english translation on a separate page.  As most of the poems flowed much better in the original transcript.

This book is beautiful, Its soft but at the same time there is something in the background that moves you.  Each one is personal and deep.  Almost dream like.  It like looking into somebodys diary.  You feel like you should been raeding these poems because they are so personal, yet she pulls you in.

Shes won me over and its the perfect book for the autumn rainy afternoons.

Book Review............Operation: BLACKFLAG

Operation: BLACKFLAG

I was so excited to read this book.  The back cover made it sound funny and generally everything I wanted from this book,  and guess what?.....I did enjoy it.

But.

I did put it on some pedestal that this book because I was so excited about reading it, but unfortunately would never been able to live up to the standard I put it on.  

The book was funny, laugh out loud funny and there was also bits of terror there to, so there was some jumpy sections there.  I struggled a bit at the start cause I found the beginning seemed to have loads of cut scenes, but as the book developed they disappeared and either was not there or I just didn't notice.

Personally I would recommend this book and I would read it again and I bet when I do read it again it would be even better then this time I read it.

Book Review......Rarity from the Hollow

Rarity from the Hollow

I got approached to read this book and for a honest review by the author.  I know many of you will sigh and think it's still going to be bias, but I hope to keep to my word.

First I would like to say sorry to Robert for how long this took, and thank you for giving a chance to read your novel.

Here's my review.

It was good, I wasn't amazed but it was alright.  Sometimes it did give me a little headache because it had more twisted then a rollercoster you make on Rollercoaster Tycoon (look it up, youngsters), but twists are not normally a bad thing and it did keep the story fresh, but that being said, some didnt need to be there as I felt I some areas it affected the flow of the book.  

For me, this book was a little bit of a struggle, it wasn't gripping enough for me and I kept getting a little lost and having to read back on myself.  This kind stopped me from rushing back to pick it up, but when I did pick it back up, I did find myself enjoying what I was reading.

The integration of the anti bulling message wasnt as subtle as it could of been but if anything thats why I like it.  Cause its like pow!  And theres not really any books that are so strong with it.  I really think this is powerful and a great way for people to get a better understanding.

Overall the characters development wasnt really for me, i found them more grating as the story went on.  But, There was some really funny parts and some really dark bits, which of cause I loved.  But I wont spoil them for you.

Roberts writing style is amazing,  you can tell he put his soul into this book, and the fact hes used his own first hand knowledge really adds something.  I feel bad cause again this is not normally a book I would go for but that being said I am glad i read it.

A side note to add her is that Robert is also donating all proceeds to charity.  Absolutely Amazing.

This story is good, and I would recommend it to people.  Normally I wouldn't go for this type novel but I was intrigued.

Book Review........The Antigone Poems

This book is right up my street.  The words express so much and the art work though terrifying is also endearing.  You can't take your eyes off them.  This book is chilling but at the same time calming.  Its relatable though your not sure why.  I loved it.

The poems are powerful, and you get a real sense of horror and terror and some left you feeling quite bleak then, POW!  There a beautiful yet undertone of sad picture and it brings you back.  You sense the Greek tragedy throughout this book.

I was in awe of the skill involved in some of these verses.  I loved in exile.  It was short and yet the range in my feeling when I read that poem.  Just read it and you will know what I mean.

The book itself it set out perfectly.  If you are new to poetry then please give this book a go, cause its not overwhelming and yet still special.

Read it in the dark if your dare.

Jonjon book review.... King of Pawns

Twists turns political scheming, assaintation, magic, war.....everything I want in a fantasy book.  Beautifully written great imagery. An fantastic read.

Can't wait for the sequel couldn't give it any higher praise.

Characters development was wonderful,especially the general, they really captured the spirit of the book. Every time you get comfortable with something there's another twist.  The magical aspect of the book really draws you in and it makes you thing your really there.  I cant say much cause I don't want to ruin it but it ends on a cliff hanger and I cant wait to read the next one.

The Night of Long Knives Book Review

The Night of Long Knives

I thought I would give this book a try.  Honestly I’m not a lover of disaster stories.  In fact I would go as far as to say I normally avoid books and films in this genre.  But for some reason I could not take my eyes off this book.  It made a spark with me and I just had to read it.

To start with, hand on heart, I really didn’t give it what it deserved, I did a quick flick through and it had long chapters, so this book automatically deflated me. But, and I shall add another BUT!

How wrong was I?

This book is more than a disaster book.

Yes its apocalypso and yes it’s not really my thing, but I really enjoyed it.  The characters evolved, and as they evolved I fell in love with them, I was cheering them on wanting then to make it.  I loved how they moulded together, they was they gelled.  The story was more than I expected, It had so many twists but in a good way.  Every time I was getting complaisant, it was flipped keeping the story fresh and me engrossed.

It had feels of sci-fi and Lust and terror, but it didn’t take long for me to be there with them.

I really enjoyed it and I would read this book again.

                4 out of 5 stars.

Inside a String review

The book was very daunting at first, I find with most books and poems with the beat style its hard at first till you get the rhythm of the book.  And this book, all I can say is wow.


This book really captured the feel of the beat generation, you could really get a sense of Toms turmoil, you can feel hes highs and lows within each word.  This book is so powerful and it really meant a lot to me.  Even though you could see the influence of Kerouac and Hemingway, Tom really has made this hes own.

My favourite poem was Nature's Narcissism, It just really overcame me.  I felt every word.  It was like magic words being said to me on the page.  But Love Revealed and Climb are also very good ones to look out for.

Overall.....This book.....This book could change a life.  Yes it was hard to start with but once that rhythm sets in, and it doesn't take long to find it, I really enjoyed it.  It really gets you thinking and the words have so much dept.

The book is more then a book its a treasure, and this book is for you.

amazing wonderful....read read read

What a find.
What a book.
What a read.

It was truly amazing.  This is the only book review i will set out like this but god damn.  This book was good.  Its griping and the relationship between the characters, my word.

You are right there with them, you feel everything they feel.  Your wondering and thinking like the characters.  It will be a shame to see it go.

The conversations between the boys is so funny and I can actually imagine boys saying these things. And the clever notes, a mark of genius.  The way the author tapped into the mind of the killer, wow, just wow.  You really got a unsettling feeling.  The way he describes hes memories, it's chilling.

Please go out buy the book.  give it a read and let me know what you think.  I would love to have a discussion about it.  I don't want to spoil it to much.  But its amazing a real good find.  at some points my hairs were standing on end and it makes you think.  Its a roller coaster.

Black Lands: half way mark, ish

So I am half, well almost half way through, and my thoughts on this little gem.

I'm really liking this book, its really odd at the moment,  its gripping when I'm Reading it and I kinda feel like I don't want to put it down.  But when I do put it down I'm not rushing to get back to it.

Some parts of it are quite repetitive when hes at the moors but at the same time its not annoying that hes there and it does add to the story.  Arnold Avery is developing as you read on, he seems darker and darker he has many different sides which you  want to uncover and I hope at the end you learn more of what happened to him.

Steven has some great moment especially with his friend Lewis.  It does remind me of some of the conversations my cousin used to have growing up.  A great example is the conversation between them about Lewis touched a girls boob, and Steven knows and can tell his exaggerating.  That did make me laugh.

Another aspect of this book is the relationship between Steven and his mother.  There are moments of pure love but there is strain there too.  I love to see how this develops.

So far this book had so many great moments and its gripping when you currently reading it,  but I've noticed which each chapter I'm getting more engrossed. So if you are or currently have read this book, let me know what you think.

OOOOOO don't it sound wonderful,  to me it seemed refreshing, it something new a different for of killer, but then I opened the cover and saw this...



Twelve-year-old Steven Lamb digs holes on Exmoor, hoping to find a body.

Every day after school and at weekends, while his classmates swap football stickers, Steven digs to lay to rest the ghost of the uncle he never knew, who disappeared aged eleven and is assumed to have fallen victim to the notorious serial killer Arnold Avery.

Only Steven's nan is not convinced her son is dead.  She still waits for him to come home, standing bitter guard at the front window while her family fragments around her.

Steven is determined to heal the widening cracks between them before it's too late.  And if that means presenting his grandmother with the bones of her murdered son, he'll do it.

So the boy takes the next logical step, carefully crafting a letter to Arnold Avery in prison.  And there begins a dangerous cat-and-mouse game between a desperate child and a bored serial killer.

A game that will have more terrifying consequences that Steven could ever imagine...



Oh my gosh,  A killer penpal.  I'm so intrigued and what interests me most about this book is how the writer is going to get into the child's mind.  How will he act being a pen pal for a killer.  OK penpal is probably not the right word but that's what it is in essence.

I do love a good thriller, and this sounds like a good thriller.  I can't wait to get started and if you have started it then please let me know, lets discuss.  Get in touch.

A New idea from something old

Hi Moonbeams

This is just a thought that I had in the bath, but I'm going to start up this book review club.  Now what I'm hoping for is people to share their work and recommend book for out community to read.  I want to share ideas and opinions in a loving union with friends.

I will not tolerate trouble makers and I don't think anybody else should either so trolls will be ignored at all costs not just by me but with the community as well, hopefully.

Every week there will either be a new book or a new published stories to read.  I think to start with we should look at some of the free amazon books so not to cost people to much money and then everybody shall get involved.  Don't worry if you don't have a kindle, I don't have a kindle but you can download the kindle app for free of your app store.  (I don't have a kindle so that's what I'm doing)  and I will also be publishing the book I'm currently reading.  So if you want to read too you can.
