Book Review........The Antigone Poems

This book is right up my street.  The words express so much and the art work though terrifying is also endearing.  You can't take your eyes off them.  This book is chilling but at the same time calming.  Its relatable though your not sure why.  I loved it.

The poems are powerful, and you get a real sense of horror and terror and some left you feeling quite bleak then, POW!  There a beautiful yet undertone of sad picture and it brings you back.  You sense the Greek tragedy throughout this book.

I was in awe of the skill involved in some of these verses.  I loved in exile.  It was short and yet the range in my feeling when I read that poem.  Just read it and you will know what I mean.

The book itself it set out perfectly.  If you are new to poetry then please give this book a go, cause its not overwhelming and yet still special.

Read it in the dark if your dare.

Jonjon book review.... King of Pawns

Twists turns political scheming, assaintation, magic, war.....everything I want in a fantasy book.  Beautifully written great imagery. An fantastic read.

Can't wait for the sequel couldn't give it any higher praise.

Characters development was wonderful, especially the general, they really captured the spirit of the book. Every time you get comfortable with something there's another twist.  The magical aspect of the book really draws you in and it makes you thing your really there.  I cant say much cause I don't want to ruin it but it ends on a cliff hanger and I cant wait to read the next one.

Buy it here    Amazon. King of Pawns

I would give this book 5 out of 5.

Book Review Accidental Grace

Accidental Grace

Oh My God this book.  This book is amazing.

First I'm shocked and kinda ashamed of the human race for the lack of comments about this book because I have not been able to shut up about it to people.

Second,  I am not a religious person.  But this book touched me.  Its full of grace and beauty and so many pockets of wonderful.

This book is full of Psalms Prayers and Poems all as beautiful and enchanting as the next.  Its easy to get lost in the words.  Like I said I am not religious but I read this twice before I even attempted to write this review.

I felt each Poem and Psalm related to me in a different way and when I read them to others, I found that it was the same for them.

Overall I still cant believe people haven't spoke about this book.  Its something special and something that needs to be treasured.  Rami Shapiro is a wonderful person and I thank him for this book.

4.5 Stars

Its Finally Here....Jonjon's Book Review. The Great Bazaar and Brayans Gold

The Great Bazaar and Brayans Gold

When I started this novel I was unaware that it contained two short stories from a series of books called the Demon Cycle as I reviewed this from NetGalley.  Needless I still enjoyed these stories and took an instant shine to the character Arlen and his no nonsense take on everything.

I can honestly say that reading this has made me want to read the other stories as soon as possible.

The only negative I would give is the writing is some what childish for my liking and the last story without Arlen was very boring.

Overall I still enjoyed it.

Next Book if you want to read along

My next book Starting in TWO days  Is going to be    (Drum roll)

Operation: Blackflag!!!!!!

I'm so excited for this one.  Its right up my street.  find it by clicking..... here

This is the description:

Citizen, have you seen the black and yellow menace? They may have already infiltrated your workplace, your school or EVEN YOUR HOME! I'm talking about wasps. WASPS OF THE MUTANT AND MAN-EATING VARIETY! They hate you, they hate me and they hate America. Has a wasp stung you or someone you love for no reason at all? Well that was probably just a regular wasp. They do that. Was the wasp THE SIZE OF A TRUCK at the time? Then you encountered a mutant wasp! Perhaps a coworker has recently called in sick with a case of BEING PARALYZED AND THEN EATEN ALIVE FROM THE INSIDE OUT BY WASP OFFSPRING. This may be a sign he chanced upon a mutant wasp! Be vigilant! If you see one, SPEAK UP! The Army is standing by, ready to kill on contact and keep on killing—even though this whole mutant wasp business was DEFINITELY AND TOTALLY NOT OUR FAULT. Together we can squish this threat.

Oh come on, I can tell you want to read this too.

    Come read with me.

The Night of Long Knives Book Review

The Night of Long Knives

I thought I would give this book a try.  Honestly I’m not a lover of disaster stories.  In fact I would go as far as to say I normally avoid books and films in this genre.  But for some reason I could not take my eyes off this book.  It made a spark with me and I just had to read it.

To start with, hand on heart, I really didn’t give it what it deserved, I did a quick flick through and it had long chapters, so this book automatically deflated me. But, and I shall add another BUT!

How wrong was I?

This book is more than a disaster book.

Yes its apocalypso and yes it’s not really my thing, but I really enjoyed it.  The characters evolved, and as they evolved I fell in love with them, I was cheering them on wanting then to make it.  I loved how they moulded together, they was they gelled.  The story was more than I expected, It had so many twists but in a good way.  Every time I was getting complaisant, it was flipped keeping the story fresh and me engrossed.

It had feels of sci-fi and Lust and terror, but it didn’t take long for me to be there with them.

I really enjoyed it and I would read this book again.

Questions from the Sisterhood of World Bloggers

Sisterhood of World Bloggers

Thank you Laura from  125pages for nominating me for the Sisterhood of World Bloggers!

Here are the rules (i just copied and pasted this bit, hope you don't mind):
Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.
  1. Put the award logo on your blog.
  2. Answer the ten questions sent to you.
  3. Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
  4. Nominate ten blogs.

My 10 questions I received:

1. What made you start reviewing books?
JonJon and I always have a book in our hands and I do get asked a lot about what we are reading and whats it about.  As I started a blog writing short stories I thought the next step would be writing about some of the other books I've read.

2. What is your favourite comfort book (that book you re-read for the feels)?
My go to book is written by John Collonny and its called The book of Lost Things.  I love everything about it.  I love the dream like feel to it.  The view from the child eye.  Everything I guess.  It is fantasy style but its just a amazing read.  Another book Ive read loads is by Kathleen Tessaro and its called Elegance.  Its so funny and has amazing tips.

3.Do you watch movies based on books you like?

OMG Yes all the time, hay I even watch TV shows based on books!  Hunger games!!  I freaking love Hunger Games and of cause Harry potter but I'm still peeved that they left out peeves from the film.  One that I felt disappointing was The Beach I felt the movie was nowhere near the book especially with Daffy Character.  But I also love classics as well, I mean To Kill A Mockingbird with Gregory Peck was amazing.

4.Is there one genre you will absolutely not read?

I like to think I give anything a go but I do keep away from romance like mills and bloom and fantasy books in the style of Warhammer.  Don't write me off I do like fantasy books, I just don't like that style of fantasy.  Nothing against Warhammer books, my boyfriend absolute loves them and reads them all the time, but they just ain't for me.  My JonJon reads Warhammer books and fantasy books so he does the reviews on those for me.  Oh and disaster books.  I'm not into Armageddon style books.

5.Can you still like a book if you dislike the main character?
I think you can, I don't really like Harry Potter yet I enjoy the books.  I think if it has a great story element and great supporting characters I think the book will do just fine.  Without that though, I would be a struggle.

6.What book cliché do you hate the most?
At the moment I feel everybody is coming out with the 50 shades style books.  I don't mind erotic fiction but I just don't care for stuff that I dreamt of as a teenager.  Seriously people be more original.

7.Do you always have a book with you in some form?

I have the kindle app on my phone but I still carry around a book with me.  To me nothing beats a real book.

8.Do you try to recruit people to your favourite authors/series?
All the time, though most people just agree to read it to shut me up about it.  Normally my books go to my sister so she can give them a read, It's nice because we have kinda the same taste.

9.Would you ever want to write a book?
Yes I have been working one  for some time now.  It was the reason I started Blogging.  I thought I t would help me get over my writers block if I wrote short stories.

10.Who is your character crush?
I dunno!   I have one don't laugh though.  I just really love hes Character in Romeo and Juliet.  Mercutio.

My ten questions for you!
 1. What was your favourite book as a child?
 2. If you could only read one genre of book what would it be?
 3. What book would you say helped you when you needed it?
 4. What character from a book would you most like to be like?
 5. Nearly 100% of the time the book is better then the film, but what film is, if you could say, better then the book?
 6. If you are struggling with a book and you just can not get into it.  Do you see it through to the end or just give up?
 7. Whats your favourite classical author and what story of theirs is your favourite?
 8. Have you always been a book reader or is it something you've got more into as you have got older?
 9. What kind of book are you finding annoying in the book world at this time?
10. If you could be any author for a day, who would it be and why?

Inside a String review

The book was very daunting at first, I find with most books and poems with the beat style its hard at first till you get the rhythm of the book.  And this book, all I can say is wow.

This book really captured the feel of the beat generation, you could really get a sense of Toms turmoil, you can feel hes highs and lows within each word.  This book is so powerful and it really meant a lot to me.  Even though you could see the influence of Kerouac and Hemingway, Tom really has made this hes own.

My favourite poem was Nature's Narcissism, It just really overcame me.  I felt every word.  It was like magic words being said to me on the page.  But Love Revealed and Climb are also very good ones to look out for.

Overall.....This book.....This book could change a life.  Yes it was hard to start with but once that rhythm sets in, and it doesn't take long to find it, I really enjoyed it.  It really gets you thinking and the words have so much dept.

The book is more then a book its a treasure, and this book is for you.
